A+I Promotes Four Designers Within Its Growing NYC Practice

Integrated architecture, strategy, and experience design firm A+I (Architecture Plus Information) today announced the promotion of four individuals within its growing New York City-based practice.

Three designers have been elevated to Senior Associate. Tim Aarsen, Vivien Chin, and Brian Thomas previously served as associates within the firm. As senior associates, they expand their responsibilities to oversee the design and execution of multiple projects within their respective design studios. The three new senior associates are assuming their new roles at a time when A+I is celebrating the first anniversary of its reorganization into design studios.

“When we decided last year to divide our growing office into smaller communities of practice, or design studios, we baked in an opportunity for associates at the firm to grow their skill set and managerial position through proven leadership at the project level,” A+I principal Sommer Schauer reflected. “In the time since, Vivien, Brian, and Tim have all shown amazing growth. We’re eager to see how they apply this to the new senior associate position.”

In addition to the Senior Associates, Marta d’Alessandro has been promoted to Associate. Within this capacity, she will join a cohort of project managers and project architects who help drive the day-to-day execution of project work and spearhead firmwide initiatives.

The promotions come at an exciting moment at A+I, with a series of projects completing in 2019. Earlier this year, a collection of three lobbies in New York City’s Hudson Square neighborhood opened to the public. This past spring, an expansive, 250,000 square foot workplace for an asset management fund within Hudson Yards welcomed employees. And later this year, a three-floor workplace aerie for hedge fund Third Point will be ready for business. These projects will be joined by upcoming work for global brands such as Equinox, Peloton, and Under Armour.

“At the time of our reorganization in 2018, we said, and truly meant, that the best thing A+I has built in its 23 years of business is the firm itself, an amazing community of design talent that, to me, is simply unparalleled,” A+I co-founder Brad Zizmor shared. “These promotions are proof positive that this is a place where the best design talent can flourish.”
